Which is why I figure the EU would be the Heavy Armor/Tank-centric faction, making for a different take on the idea than what we've seen China and the Soviets of Red Alert give us - typically, the tank-based brute force faction gets shafted technologically, and the EU being the tank faction, while it might make them similar to GDI, would certainly cause a shift in balance and leave the glorious title of 3rd Faction open for something entirely different.

Besides, the Merkava is the closest we'll get to a Mammoth in terms of armor we'll get in Real Life anyway.

I disagree there. The Merkava isn't closer to a Mammoth than any other real tank. Everything from Leopards to Type-99A2's all kneel at the Mammoth's feet, begging for chance to gaze upon its eternal greatness. .

The Merkava is big, slow, and heavily armored (compared to other tanks). The only thing closer would be the Maus.

Okay, I understand your reasoning. I'm looking at it like this. It isn't substantially different/powerful enough to be considered closer or farther from the Mammoth in any practical sense, any more than the most powerful conventional cannon is "the closest thing" to a rail gun.

It's just my opinion - in the Generals 'verse, it makes a lot of sense (to me) that a nation that IRL deploys one of the heavier tanks in use (IIRC) would deploy something in line with a double-barreled, four-treaded Mammoth.

...Certainly a lot more sense than China using them, as the Mammoth doesn't fit their "Strength in Numbers" schtick at all.

Dude, the Merkava only looks big(ger) on pictures. It's roughly the same size as most other tanks nowadays and no slower (in fact it's a bit shorter and faster than an Abrams IIRC).

I would appreciate people stop posting on this thread, rather than the P2. This is an outdated poll.

I want the Asian Coalition, which involves several Eastern Asian countries including China, Japan, and Korea. This faction is somewhat advanced in technology yet primarily relies on sheer numbers of infantry and vehicles. Some of the units that receive the horde bonus are the Red Guard, the Tank Hunter, and the Yari Mini Sub.

I think a non-comedic, non-communist Russia faction would be nice. It would focus on light mobile tanks with high firepower and long reach and they'd also have a variety of APCs, plenty of cheap infantry, etc.

They would have a long, bloody campaign against the GLA in central Asia.

But, really, they've probably decided what the third faction is going to be a long time ago.
