the beta is specifically for testing purposes: it is not made for a chance ot play the game before release- but to minimize game imbalances, test server load and user experience. I really want to type up an announcement for this to let everyone know, but ill probably get flamed or a warning for referencing non TA games

They'll be reset. A beta is for reporting problems with the game - it isn't finished yet and hence the game won't be as fun to play, there will probably be problems and may not even work. Betas, as apt mentioned, shouldn't be used as an opportunity to playthe game before its released. Experiencing a beta as if you are expecting a finished game will only bring disappointment.
You should only play a beta game if you will judge it as a beta - and wait for the final game, when everyone is reset, to make up your mind.

Games like this are reset every once in a while anyway. The massive power difference between someone who started day one and a few months later is so large that if they didn't the game would die out on no fault of its own.

actually they probably wont do something like that, rather adopt a protection or "under the radar" strategy where unless the new player makes an aggressive move, they wont be attackable or visible by other, more experienced players, until they have met certain conditions

The way the game works, players who want to attack other players who are much lower level than them are not only wasting their time, but putting themselves behind.

Does it work like morale in LoU or differently?

That is very interesting to know. I would be interested to hear something about that from the EA_Phenomic Community Manager Menthur and who may know about things like that. I look forward to reading Menthur's post, and any other posts, that may be of help to all players, now and in the future. As it is a Beta I think that things might later be reset, but it would be nice if Menthur mentions something about that.

we have to wait until mass testing, but by the sounds of it there will be a certain defensive bonus for the defender
