    Need your Opinion...

Looking to buy C&C for my Mac, but don't know which I'll like better...

I REALLY enjoyed C&C 3: Tiberium Wars, and am in the middle of Kane's Wrath (both for 360).

So my question is, should I buy Red Alert or Generals for my Mac?

Red Alert 3 really, really sucked.

Generals is good if it will run on your computer, and Amazon sells Gold Editions for ~ $13.
"Not with our current Economical Budget We aint. :P Lets just stick to what we have now alright?"

I like both RA3 and Generals, if you have the money I may suggest buying both. RA3 has very good mods (though I don't know how they would for with Mac) and Generals is simply awesome

RA3 is one of the most underappreciated games in the franchise. I think if it had another six to nine months in development, and post launch support, it would've been one of the best C&Cs. It took a lot of the classic C&C formula and remade it, while adding a lot of new gameplay aspects that weren't as ridiculously demanding as something like StarCraft might be, but were still challenging, fun, and a good starting point for a dedicated online community. Unfortunately, its lack of support (before and after its release) doomed it.

As for getting a game for a Mac, besides asking the obvious question of "Why the hell are you using a fake computer?", I have to ask, can't you just get any C&C and run it through Bootcamp (or whatever it's called)? If you can, then pick up The First Decade pack. That'll include Generals, and all of the classic games in the series. If it's a choice between just RA3 and Generals for some reason, go with RA3. If multiplayer is a factor for you, then you should probably do some research and find out which game in the series is most played online now. I'm honestly not sure of this, but I'm guessing it's RA3, Renegade and its mods, or Generals.

Also, how is it that Apple still has thralls under its control when the caster of the neutralize free will spell died in October? Was he truly that powerful of a dark sorcerer?

I'd highly recommend Generals first, as it has superb and fun gameplay, and also has a lot of awesome mods (and I mean a lot). It doesn't have the same kind of campaign as the other C&C games, but I still like it.
RA3 is also fun, but that's mostly in gameplay. The campaign was pretty horrible, and the unit design... well, it's a bit too over-the-top silly for me, although I do still like the art style.

I actually haven't played Generals yet (it's the only game in the entire franchise I haven't bought yet), but I can tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed Red Alert 3.

I understand that RA3 is a pretty polarized game: either you really, really like it, or you really, really hate it. It just depends what you were expecting when you went into it. It's got a great B-movie-style story with hilariously over-the-top acting, it has some of the best music in any C&C game in my opinion, it has a unique exaggerated and colourful art style, and aesthetically everything flows really well.

Gameplay-wise, the single-player is a lot of fun and lasts you longer than a lot of other modern RTS's, and since every mission can also be played co-operatively there's a lot of replay value to be had. With multiplayer, the game is very well-balanced, and any faction can beat any other faction at any skill level. It's also interesting in that every unit is useful and every strategy can be countered. Spamming MBT's won't get you very far outside of the campaign. Online multiplayer is still quite active. It doesn't take long to find a match, and when you do it's pretty smooth unless your own connection sucks.

Bottom line: If you'd rather have a game that's pure over-the-top fun (think Saints Row the Third) but laced with brilliantly-balanced and strategic gameplay, then go for Red Alert 3. If you can't stand the cartoon-style design and goofy gameplay and would rather have a smooth experience in a setting a little more grounded in reality, then go for Generals.
Actually, just call me "Stammer6". This site is just silly and won't let me use that username.

Not gonna beat around the bush: I love Red Alert 3. I know there's a lot of you out there that don't like it. That's cool. But yeah, that's probably why my post above is about 99% likely to involve the game in at least one way, shape, or form.

Buy Red Alert 3, it's a better overall game then Generals in my opinion. Has a much better single-player than Generals by the way.

Generals was better but not sure how compatible macs are with older games.

Which one you should get depends on what type of experience you want. The games have completely different styles. RA3 is corny but fun, and Generals is a little more serious.

Both have terrible singleplayer campaigns though.
