Sharing is not a pure altruistic act done for total strangers, it is almost always done with close friends and family, and there is usually some expectation of reciprocation. People do not usually go out and hunt game only to then go and give the meat away to strangers.

If person A gives a beer to a Person B, it is usually because A enjoys the company of B, in which case A is acting in his own rational self interest.
