C&C 4 was the greatest RTS game ever created. I remember when I was trying to figure out exactly how this new model worked and lost interest, but after a few days I was inspired and realized the genious of this game. It was fantastic! Greatest game ever! The problem in my experience was most players did not get over the hurdle of understanding like I almost didn't. Thankfully I stuck with it after a few days. Never had that much fun before in a computer game.

    Is this correct?

I ask out of curiosity because when it first launched, a friend and I played through the entire Nod campaign, and started the GDI campaign, but couldn't get past late-campaign bugs of crashing to desktop any time a video file played. Towards the end, we would load this game 4 or 5 times in a row, only to crash to desktop during the FMV before the mission could even start.

We both stopped playing and said "we'll wait for this to get patched..." and both lost interest. With the release the the Ultimate Collection, we planned on running through all the games and series again, and talked about "well hopefully C&C 4 is patched by now..."

It's funny how this guy thinks his problems are everyone elses. Self-absorbed. He is the ony person having his problem with his system unable to run c&c4 all alone. Can you smell agenda anyone?

I did not have time to read the entire thread so I apologize if I'm covering something already said. C&C 4 went wrong the day EA decided to recoin it from Arena to 4. As Arena it is was going to be a multiplayer only 5 on 5 standalone game with no fiction behind it. Once they changed that and tried to force the culmination of the series onto it nothing else mattered.

If you are looking for an appropriate end to the series it fails but it was never supposed to be that.
If you are looking for a good single player experience, as most of the previous versions of C&C delivered, it fails but it was never supposed to have sp.
If you are looking for base building it fails......but it was never supposed to have that.

If you are looking for some fast and fun RTT action it succeeds or fails based on your individual expectations.....as all games do. Where 4 falls short is that it was set up to fail to begin with. Generals 2 is going to be good or bad based on two things
    1) Can they to f2p properly?
    2) Is the game fun?

Fun means different things to different people but at least it won't have all those other things going against it before anyone even plays it so it stands a chance.

    C&C 4 was never given a chance

This is going to be a big post so bear with me:

The C&C gameplay has always been about base management, tactics, and COMMANDING massive armies, and CONQUERing your enemies. Each game has a large variety of units to choose from and each have unique uses and can greatly alter a battle. You can effectively create sneak attacks and hit and run tactics, or just overpower your opponent with powerful armor, or hit them from the sky with strategic strikes. Support powers alter the battle and can give you an edge when used at the right place and time. Finding extra locations to gain additional income and establish an effective stronghold, there is a ton of strategic possibilities and the battles can be huge and intense.

In C&C 3 they introduced a new faction known as the "Scrin." and alien force who lives off of tiberium and is brought to earth after Kane set up a trap to trick GDI to use the iconic "Ion Cannon" on Nod's main temple "Temple Prime" sitting on top of a massive concentration of Liquid Tiberium which causes a blast sending out a wave of energy that the Scrin (or as Kane calls them, "The Visitors.") detects and sends a scouting force to begin investigating.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdJgr7vGUsc (first few scenes.)
After GDI manages to establish a defence and counter attack the scrin began constructing a network of Threshold towers which in the Scrin and nod campaign you learn they are portals to and from the Scrin worlds. IN the scrin campaign you order your forces through the last standing threshold tower, now indestructible upon completion. Then, you hear from the scrin Overlord say "Prepare a full invasion force, Earth will fall!"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-TLy_-tz0g

Upon hearing this, many fans, myself included, were excited and looking forward to C&C 4.
We wanted to see The Scrin invasion, we wanted to see each side in separate campaigns finally accomplish their ultimate goal in a final, satisfying conclusion for each ending. Wanted to see even bigger battles with more units, more powers, more maps, and much more for this epic conclusion for the C&C Tiberium Saga.

What we got was a complete and utter insult that did not even remotely resemble Command and Conquer.

    First, the gameplay.
They taken out EVERYTHING, no more base construction, resource collection (except for Tiberium crystals you collect for research but you only need it for a few minutes into a match.), and no massive armies. Instead we have a very small population cap (even smaller the more people there are in a match.) and you have to work with small teams, you have an All-in-one "base" called the Crawler which allows you to research powers, train new units, and can relocate. You get three classes, Offence, Defense, and Support. Defense builds some defensive structures and infantry, offence focuses on Armor, and Support focuses on the air force and support powers. There is ONE game mode called "Domination" where you take control different control nodes and the more you control the more points you get, once the score reaches the goal, you win. Killing enemy units and Crawlers grants more points as well. unfortunately, that is too risky, so the best strategies in C&C 4 involve AVOIDING COMBAT AT ALL COSTS!
Where is the COMMAND AND CONQUER aspect of the game!?
The Crawler system might not be soo bad if it was just one unit you can command as a mobile warfactory to build units at another location on the map, like in Tiberian sun (GDI called it the Mobile War factory, Nod called it "Fist of Nod.")
Another annoying thing is that units seem to have an "accuracy rating" so firefights last alot longer then they should. Two sides are shooting at each other while they are both sitting still, but only about half the shots hit, maybe more if you research the accuracy boost. Also, in the previous games, there were units that were "Strong vs infantry" "strong vs Vehicles" "strong vs Air" "Strong vs structures" and a combination of a couple of those. Here it is "strong vs Light, medium, or Heavy." which is actually annoying, especially when, say, a heavy vehicle is strong against medium vehicles, but absolutely WORTHLESS against a light vehicle! With a small population cap, generalizing your forces in single player is dangerous and makes your army (if you can call it that) very under powered.

So, gameplay is Abysmal, how about the story?
    . . . . . .
it does not tie in with the rest of the series AT ALL!
In C&C 3 Kane stated that working with GDI is considered Treachery. C&C 4, first thing you see, Kane is voluntarily working with GDI! Whats worse, his motives changed, he is working to rid the world of tiberium as well! And yet, even though Nod is Working with GDI (except for one separatist that you put down fairly quick) in the campaigns the two sides are STILL fighting, and one of the major supporters of the alliance tries to stop you in the Nod campaign, with no explanation as too why.
First Nod mission you are assisting GDI with evacuation efforts of a city, yet when you get close to GDI units THEY SHOOT AT YOU!

Another problem with the story, they give your character a wife who they clearly want you to have an emotional connection with. Unfortunately she is BLOODY ANNOYING! She is a stereotypical whiny overly attached and emotional wife who is one of the very few characters if games or movies that I actually find completely annoying and a waste of time. I don't even buy your characters relationship with her.
1: you never talk, its just a first person view of what your character sees during cinematics and everyone talks to you, works great in the previous games.
2: She never touches you! When you wake up after a serious injury she doesn't run up and give you a greatful and warm hug, she just stands there with her hands clasped together saying "Oh I am SOO glad to see you awake!" No hug, No kiss, not even a handshake. What kind of marriage has two people who do not dare touch each other?
3: the Camera work gives a sort of "I don't care" sort of look. In the next to last cinematic she tells you not to help Kane, but after Kane talks for a minute and walks down a hall way, you look at her for a millisecond and then follow Kane like she was barely even a THOUGHT.

She didn't need to be in here!

Then the endings: They are almost identical where you open the portal, he walks through and then "ascends" then the tiberium slowly starts to disappear from the world.

The differences are in the GDI ending, when you had the intention of taking Kane out yourself, he talks to you and then Lt. Col. James from GDI says to stop him but instead you open the portal anyway. She shoots you reluctantly thinking that she has to in order to prevent Kane from going through the portal and letting something into earth wiping everyone out (which doesn't happen wither way.) The ending is a little stupid with Kane getting shot but survives like nothing happened.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8No_Ea6tmYY

Nod ending your wife is there, walks away saying "I can't watch you do this" and Kane says he will find her while you go to the portal, Lt. Col. James shoots you to try and stop you but Kane walks up and picks her up by the throat and says "He was not yours to take!" and then with one hand holding the Col. up strangles her to death. (actually the coolest part of the game, really. Looks pretty intense even though the camera pans away as that happens. Also cool to see Kane finally do something himself and show what he is capable of himself. something almost never seen before in the C&C games.) Then the scene is offset by your wife balling her eyes out, STILL NOT TOUCHING YOU, and saying your going to be ok, then looks to Kane and says "You said he would be fine!" then Kane says "I thought he would be, but you are all so fragile." then he walks through the portal and Tiberium starts to disappear.

C&C 4 Tiberium Twilight is the biggest insult in gaming, it doesn't match the story, gameplay, and I really hope they are willing to do a Complete remake to fix this mistake.

EA, please, Try again from scratch! This is not how the series should have ended!

    end massive text....

Obviously you haven't played this game... so your point is non-creditable. You keep tibbing for the entire game.

As for the storyline.... what did you expect when they made it in 1 week? lol
