I wish they would just stick to their roots and by roots I mean Tirberian dawn. Base building was one of the best parts, which C&C 4 threw out the window. I took pride in making my base a fortess, even took the time to set up my sand bags and concrete walls so it was completely official. They shouldn't rush the action part it comes quick enough, rather give the time to build a base and utilize troops/tanks etc. to their advantage. I seem to never have enough time with C&C3/4 to utilize stealth units to their potential because everything happens so quickly. just rambling...

Where EA thought C&C4 gameplay was Company of Heroes meets World In Conflict, some players started to realize it and that's not the way C&C was meant to be played.

As for the bad ending of Kane, Kane is supposed to be dead, not on a departure from Earth and join the Scrin world on the other universe. What ever happened to another alien invasion and the Scrin response to the portal usage in the alien tower was totally missing from this game.

Also, if you Host a game then you can change the lethality:

Um, hello, the Mastodon is said to be the most powerful unit in the gdi ranks. And only a full elite be,as kills a puny cyborg.
    Kane the second

    • Departure from the Classic Formula - This is probably the most important part. Moving away from the classic formula of what C&C had built over the many years is probably what led to the game being not as great as the others. Not having base building, resource collecting, and other things; Was like a slap to the face for all the fans who played the series from the beginning.
    • Bad Ending for Kane - In all our minds Joe Kucan/Kane has come to represent an important almost landmark part of the series. Appearing in all the Tiberium games since the first one that was released back in the 1990's. He has become a fan favorite and deserved a way better ending then the ones that we got at the end of C&C4.
    • Population Cap - It just didn't work and was way to low for it to be considered a C&C game. Compared to the other major RTS games on the market, C&C has always been a game that I enjoyed to play since you could have almost infinite units on the map. The population cap just ruined the appeal of the game and I didn't play it that long after it was released.

What is your opinion on where C&C 4 went wrong?
C&C4 is a good game. Just not a good C&C game.

2 simple steps can be taken to remedy this.

Remove (or at the very lest expand) the population cap.

Mod the Idris landing pads so that they work like the ore nodes from Red Alert 3

What really disapoints me is that there is no reference to the scrin returning or mention of the marked of kane.

The end of the game should have been Kane jumps into a giant robot and you have to kill him before he gets to your base. But if they made cnc5 he could still be alive somehow.

C&C4 should have been a spin-off like Generals, both of them meant a complete new persepctive and direction of the C&C, but Generals managed to make its own space because it has the conceptual license spin-offs usually have while C&C4 just tried to force itself as the conclussion of the saga.
Live well. It is the greatest revenge... And be the salt and light of Earth.
