I rarely express my dissatisfaction about a game, but let me say. This game is a horrible follow up on the C&C line. I have played C&C since the very beginning when a group of us would link our computers and just have fun making hundreds of tanks and sending them after each other. It was a blast to send 500 tanks at your friends, then hearing them react when they finally saw them coming. Having to play Online for everything is horrid. Not only does it drain bandwidth from others on your network but if the connection gets a little hinkie you get disconnected immediately. No way to explore and learn the new features at your own pace unless you have a massive ISP connection. In the end I am sad I spent money on something that will just sit in the drawer and collect dust after 15 minutes of playing.

A good game has a mixture of both, but leans to one or the other.

TT was marketed as 1, but was clearly 2.

The Marketing department should have know that veteran fans prefer 1.

So there was the lie, they knew it was 2, but called it 1, you only do that to deceive in an effort to take advantage of a loyal community.
The gameplay mechanics (no basebuilding, only crawlers + units) were known from the start. They didn't lie in any way. TT is crap, but the only lies were coming from Sam Bass about the story and how it's the "epic conclusion".

There's more than just lies from Sam Bass after all.

well they did say something similar to "you can lay out a full base" and most people dont define
a mobile all in one unit constructor,
    a temple
    and turrets

to be quite that. at the very least it is knowingly misleading

Feel free to keep this discussion going forward. Let me remind you all that any demeaning comments made towards the C&C 4 developers will be subject to strict moderation out of respect for them.

    Keep the comments clean people.

Main issues: no base building, cartoony graphics, no resource gathering, unit cap, bad ending, short development time.
I also thought the counter system seemed a little too exaggerated, since a Mastodon could be destroyed by a few spider tanks faster than they could kill a single zone trooper.

I think the one thing that struck majority of the fanbase is the story.(Putting aside the gameplay) We just cannot and will not accept that that is the end of the Kane saga. That crappy ,undeveloped ,unconstructive ,lazy ending is the final about Kane!
The other thing is obviously the gameplay mechanics which were thrown in ,for who knows what reason ,when C&C3 was on a such a good path and they could just work on from there.(unit balance ,and the economy)

Correction: There was a Day 1 patch, and another patch(contained bug fixes some balance tweaks and some extra maps) afterward and a smaller update before May 2010 to shore up server side stuff only.
