C&C Generals will not play on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I have tried running in compatibility mode XP Service Pack 2 and 3. No luck. Can anyone help?

what error message is it giving u? Im on a win 7 64 bit i set it to Windows XP SP3 mode and at the bottom set as administrator then added the options.ini file in the Generals data folder found in my documents....

sometimes when you use notepad even thought you try naming the file to options.ini it does options.ini.txt

double check that

It SHOULD work

But it may trigger the 'anti-piracy' when you try playing it (buildings blow up.) IF it does, download 'datgen.exe'.

IF it still doesn't work, then your screwed. Just like me.
