Mixed thing. Appeared only if you use Chronosphere too much, so, I'd say it's an easter egg. A hidden funny thing.
(Well, funny if it is in your enemy's base ... not so if it's in yours.)

I don't know if this would be considered an easter egg but with Daniel Kucan appearing in pretty much every Tiberium game since TS, where he plays a different role each time.
TS - McNeil's Brother
TW - Reporter Outside Temple Prime
KW - GDI Soldier in Mission 2
TT - Civilian at End
And what did you think when they had the Bioshock reference in the Uprising mission with the Desolator?

id love to see the Kucans here, especially Daniel because hes been so many diff characters and theres no cnc tib universe without him.

How about some urban legend easter eggs, like these:
- You fight near the Loch Ness lake, and simetimes when you watch very closely to the water, you can actually see the Loch Ness beast closely submerging from the water, but after 3 sec dissapears again.
- You fight high in the cold mountains, and you'll notice the legendary Yeti creatures walking by.
- A dodo, nuff said
- You fight in New York, and sometimes you see sewer crocodiles surmerging from the server to the surface
- You fight in Italie near a coast, and notice a huge ship sunken halfway near the coast. This ship is the Costa Concordia
