Some of the Tutorial Links in the Sticky are Broken; Could You Provide Working Ones?

By which I mean, they just link back to the home page. Could somebody please post a link to a new location, if one exists, or provide copies? Specifically, a tutorial on adding a unit would be nice for start; there is one on Mod DB but apparently it is "outdated," and so it might not work.

To which tutorial links are you referring? Would like to check them.

Having gone through this again, I think all of the links to tutorials on other sites work, but all of them that are supposed to link to threads on these forums do not take me to such threads, but rather the top page of these forums. A shame, because the tutorials I really wanted to read were the ones about adding new factions and adding new units.

Ahead of time, what I am hoping to do is a mod that avoids the pitfall that many aspiring modders fall into, by starting small. Instead of trying to add several whole new factions (Yuri, Futuretech, etc), what I am planning is to add subfactions, in the form of different countries, as was the case in Red Alert 2. So all will mostly be able to be created just by copying the existing factions (or so I'm assuming), and making little changes to each copy.

All links referring to the old C&C forum are broken, yes. You have to search the current forum or Google for tutorials. And try contacting Zocom7 for fixing the links.

I have done all of those things, to no avail. I'm not sure why Zocom's ignoring me, because he's obviously active on these forums. From what I can tell, the only tutorials Google yields are the outdated ones on Mod DB--could you possibly tell me what is outdated about them so they can be of some use?

There are archived versions of the tutorial pages

There are archived copies of the forum posts available at the internet archive http://archive.org/web/web.php
you can enter the url for any web page that is no longer available and the Wayback Machine will find any archived copies if they exist.

    http://web.archive.org/web/201008300...list/4210.page

    http://web.archive.org/web/201004120...ist/29949.page

some of the links on the retrieved pages may no longer work but you can use the pages to track down the tutorials through Google
    or Youtube

    Cheers

Wow; thanks for finally lending a hand!

As to those particular tutorials you linked, though, remember that it's adding a unit I need help with, so they aren't useful in this case. I tried browsing that forum but past a certain point, it just redirected me to the present-day version of the forums. Can you please clarify how to use google to search for archived threads?

It's hard for me to get to the archives. The RA3 Mod SDK FAQ has been updated to include tutorial videos.
