    gla infantry idea

    Subject:
    gla infantry unit "recruiter"

    Description:
think of the generals 1 Chinese hacker, only it creates other infantry rather than money
    how it would work..
    infantry, most likely tier 3
    unarmed
    stealthed
has to be placed in a civilian structure and over time recruits a rebel/rocket soldier/angry mob or what ever is good for balance(perhaps could choose like in a barrack what he trains or is random)
keeps recruiting units until ungarrisoned or killed

    Positive Effect:
interesting idea that could create new tactics

    Negative Effect:
    idea possibly controversial,
could be hard to balance depending on how many civilian buildings are on the maps
or what units it should generate

    Media:
    none currently

Now this would be interesting, recruiting civilians for the GLA cause. That also gives me a possible idea for mission, in which the GLA player starts with nothing except couple of Recruiters, and has to recruit civilians to kick EU's butt.

meh, its the same as having a proxy barracks in the middle of the map and training infantry from it.
and gla gets any kind of base-cloaking ability, theyd be able to stealth that proxy barracks too.

so this would be a pretty redundant unit imo

as for the concept of recruiting civilians... thats pretty much what the angry mob was in gens - a mob of angry civvies, and the squads 'regenerated' because they 'recruited' newer members

well its sort of a hybrid. and unlike the angry mob this idea has to potential to train units to whatever sort you like (for a one off payment, and keep churning them out)

and the civilians wouldnt have to already be on the map, they would span in the civilian buildings to be trained.
also you could have as many of these recruters as you liked (perhaps) so it wouldnt be like just a single barracks.

building a proxy barracks somewhere on the map accomplishes exactly same thing... except you have much more freedom than you have with this unit that can only train units from a garrison

Im liking this idea much more then a hidden barracks as it adds realism... though i think it should spawn only when its next to the buildings and not when garrisoned within them... and stealth detection would be an issue... plus then you could elect to spawn more men.. or hide your unit from attack.

i was thinking they would still be stealthed while garrisoned, like the sniper

This is a very neat idea. I think it could possibly go pretty well with Victimizer's Insurgency game mode idea, just to add an extra tier of difficulty.

Also, it finally gives me something that I might want to draw.

Perhaps this should be more like a general power (otherwise it becomes spammable), where you could select a civilian building to propagandize and it would slowly, automatically produce troops until it is destroyed/cleared.
