Thread: Stealth

    Stealth

I was just thinking, well you know how Nod is so good at Stealth. If they can make stealth tanks and hide their bases from detection why can they not make a stealth soldier. How about a stealthed commando or a stealthed engineer or would that be too overpowered?

    Didn't their commando have stationary-stealth in C&C3?

They had stealth units in Renegade. One of them was playable, and I believe there were some stealthed mutants in the singleplayer aswell.

    This was there stealth unit:

They could bring them back in future games as end-tier units.

    Nod has stealth commandos.

Nod Commando in C&C3 was stealthed when standing still, and their Cyborg Commando in C&C4 could be upgraded with portable stealth generator. Also Shadows in C&C3 were stealthed when not shooting and Renegade had a stealth Black Hand like Plrsvek said.

The whole "stealth only while still" thing didn't really pan out in TW. When the fastest, cheapest, and more abundant units for each faction could detect stealth, I'm not sure what the point of that was.

It almost feels like the development was split between two stages. First they wanted a moderately slow game, so things like Rigs and Orca pulse scans were added in. Then they changed it around to be super fast, and suddenly things like automatic stealth detection were added to Venoms and Pitbulls.

Pulse scan is quite viable vs Nod Harvesters. The problem is too many unit had stealth detectors.
Also Rigs were quite op in earlier versions, they were only trimmed down later on.

Where do "Earlier versions", and "later on" fit on the timeline here? Development? Beta? Before and after patch 1.15 or whatever it was?
