    Intel points to this man:

Mike Verdu AKA "Leg Breaker", or "Cripple your ****." is known to be responsible for the controversial blog post known as "Mechs Legs Are Chicken Legs.", which stated his belief that walking mechs were especially vulnerable to explosive charges placed on their legs.

Following the firestorm of controversy over the blog post, he has since retreated from public view. He was last known to have said, "Your expensive and unreliable teeter totters are nothing in the face of my GDI budget cuts."

    Another evil corporativist, of course!

Speaking seriously I currently see future only for quadrupedal mechs like Big Dog, it actually has more sense using a mech to work as infantry weapons and carrying support in rough terrain like mountains and hills than deploying them in flat ground where tracked and wheeled vehicles are superior or air where airships and planes have more advantage.

Quick question, why do you think andean civilizations didnt develop the wheel? A hint, look at the geography of their area.

Oh, they did invent the wheel too. It's just they hadn't had any use for it other than for toys.

Back before 20th century wheeled technology was extremely inviable given the rough terrain (desert, mountain and jungle) and lack of a a highway system, even today building highways in our nations is a massive challenge which requires far more effort than similar projects in Eurasia or North America.

So... maybe mechs would be more viable here...

He would have come with imperial titans, besides, no, like most of the population from Latinoamerica many of my ancestors are spaniards or europeans from other countries so I wouldnt have existed without the conquerors.

On the other hand, the amerindian empires could have hold the line if they had been a united front instead of recently formed states and if they had had defenses against european diseases which was the major responsible for the loss of human life (remember back then no one knew how contagion happened, the spaniards wanted subjects and vassals, not dead people, and they actually respected the incan nobility up to a certain point), and even then the incan resistance fought valiantly for half a century after the capture of Atahualpa.

    Besides:

It were the spaniard armies and House of Hausburg and Austria along with the States of Italia those who forced the arabians and turks out of most of Europe, not that they necesarily had steampunk walkers
