Hopefully Bioware will incorporate this superior ranking method for 5v5 rankings. Each unique team of 5 players that play together constitute a new team for ranking purposes to follow the method outlined below.

The r2sports method works best. Team A challenges Team B and gets Team B's Tracking Number. When Team A beats Team B again or a team above Team B they move ahead of Team B. It's very dynamic. The ELO system is too slow. All sports are now ranked according the r2sports method as I have just described. So should it be with Generals 2. The only change I would make is the top 50 teams are required to play at least one team within 50 rungs below them per day and if they don't, they move down 2 slots. This prevents teams from avoiding challengers to try to maintain their ranking.

    Meh, I won't bother anymore...

    My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '

    Me neither.

I thought you said Case's method was the best...

The r2sports method and Case's Ladder are the same thing with the value of the variables changed depending on the number of participants and activity of the ladder.

Both systems cause a player to drop in ranking due to delinquency.
Both systems aggressively move players up in ranking when they win not based on percentages.

r2sports is the most aggressive using the tracking number, and therefore, the fairest, less subject to abuse like exists for the ELO or other related systems.

And that is exactly why you want to be part of the ladder, so your now and then multiplayer game really is a good game. You want to play vs someone of equal skill, you do not want a player way below or way above your skilllevel.

You want to hit the quickmatch button and *magic* the game finds you a decent opponent. And in order to do that it has to rank you somehow. It has to know how good you are. And that is what the automatch matchmakeing system is all about, finding players of equal skill - the ranking is a side effect.

    Exactly.

There is nothing like a good 5v5 game first thing in the morning and the players are from all over the world.

Normally it is more fun to find a match with some of the same players on your team you played with before.

So, I want to play against people of the same skill level as me. I don't want to be thrown into a jumbled system of teams.
My point was that I don't want to be forced onto a team. I understand that rank is necessary for good matchmaking.

I think you can still be ranked without joining a team at all imo. All it needs is to keep track of your general stats and use it as a basis of your rank among the rest.

    Doesn't it already do that?
