Realism, just like any other game design criteria, is a means for gameplay design. It's not an opposite to it, just a different implementation of it. Others include more arcade like gameplay and there's tons of intermediate states. You could just as well ask whether people prefer colored pictures or ones with a blue color channel.

No it is not, as I already explained.

Excuse me, but I'm pretty sure you've basically said the same thing. The poll is nonsense for the reasons I've listed, which is why a poll of realism vs. arcade would be more appropriate, as you've stated.

Go ahead and make arcade as part of 'gameplay' if its more suitable then.

    My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '

Sacrifice all the realism if it makes the gameplay better. By all means.

I'm all for gameplay. None of the C&C games to date have been realistic, and in most games the gameplay has been terrific, and still they have some realistic aspects.

The game has to be fun to play, or else I'll only enjoy the visuals for a short amount of time.

Favourite C&C: Tiberian Sun; Reason: Atmosphere, what more needs to be said?
