    Dead Space 3

    Awesome.

    I have seen people is complaining about this turning into a third-person shooter, a Gears of War copy, Resident Evil 6, etc...

    As for me, the Dead Space franchise never really scared me, no, not even when surrounded by necromorphs or seeing hallucinations of dead people I felt scared, at most I may have felt worried about losing Ellie (which at this point I think is the only true thing Isaac could feel scared about since by the last game he was going into a suicide mission), indeed, it was awful to see I was going to get overwhelmed by necromorphs but I always have played the games for the joy of fighting enemies and see futuristic environment and weapons.

    Anyway, another one in my shop cart.

    It's only scary when you aren't aware that it's a game. Same as with Resident Evil. You can go throughout the game thinking "OMG, please don't let there be a zombie jump at my throat around that corne-AAAAAAHHHHH ZOOOMBIE!!!!" or you can go thinking "Okay, how many zeds will I be facing this time? Ah, two it is ... come at me bros!".

    I have to admit though, the very first time a Slasher jumped out of an airduct right next to me I was startled. On the other hand, since I am a genre savvy gamer, I had profusely amputated corpses left and right where I found them, so when that one Infector necromorph started his handywork (I think it was the first engine room level) and you could only watch through thr glasses into the control room, what came out was a Slasher that only had a single leg left ... I could barely contain my laughter at that. It's only paranoia when you are wrong after all!

    In DS1 during the chapter at the medical deck you can see the Ishimura has a section with lab-grown replacement limbs and organs, not really hard for a civilization so advanced it can travel FTL and have ships which can tear planets apart.

    Looks like Dead Space 3 is going the route of Lost Planet and Action-Oriented RE feel here.

    @Thread:

    I have mixed feelings. I love how DS2 pumped up the action and the game, from a great horror, became a great game all by itself, with a truly astounding story presentation.

    But with 3.. If you will be never alone, then I am not sure how you will be able to feel scary at all. Either they hope it still can be scary, or they are not aiming at horror at all anymore. I do like the idea of fighting humans, but I hope they will be an additional enemy besides the necromorphs, not the main one.

    I understand the series was building up for this from the very first game, but still, I am really not sure now. I guess I need more gameplays. And is it just me, or do the graphics look kinda' dated compared to how DS2 looked back during it's announcement?

    I will buy it and surely like it nevertheless. Just I am not sure will I love it as much as I loved DS 1 & 2.

    --------

    @Kittiecat guy: Well, sure, you can always tell yourself "it's just a book/movie/game" and not be frightened at all. But what is the point of playing a horror game then?

    And I personally never was scared by Resident Evil games. I always thought what people found scary in them.. Zombies for me are terrifying on a meta level, but as a thread all on their own, in their classic form, they are not scary at all.

    I'm personally very excited for the game, but I'm also excited for Crysis 3, so February is going to be a painfull month for my wallet already. It seems their new box cover is revealed aswell:

    I'm glad that the co-op is just an ''extra'' thing, you can still easily enjoy playing the singleplayer alone, something that not everyone gets. The co-op mode itself looks promising, since you can now invite friends over and play together.

    I've never gotten into the franchise but this looks like it could be a good game. I probably won't play it though as I haven't played no. 1 and 2.
