Why the EU faction was a bad idea.

The European Union was a horribly faction choice NATO would have been much better. The reason being the EU exists as economic union having no unifgied military because NATO serve that purpose SINCE 21 OF NATO's 28 members are also members of the EU. NATO would handle a giant terrorist threat

I don't think you understand that this game takes place in the future. The EU might be more militaristic. And the US "lost" the first generals war.

Not to mention that NATO was created as a counter to the Soviet Union's Warsaw Pact, and since it's fall NATO has problem finding any identity and reason to exist at all, I doubt they can become a counter-terrorist organisation..

You need to look at the game through the game's own storyline.

USA either lost the war in Europe and took a beating on the homefront. Europe was bolstered by the creation of the Eurasian Unity League with China.

Maybe it's just a more powerful version of the Eurocorps or something.

EU has China backing it, so it should be fine.

I don't know if it makes more sense (it does to me), but I know I'd prefer NATO.

Going by the 'story' of the original games, I'd say NATO would have been an iffy decision, considering the declaration at the end of it being a "political afterthought." Now granted, the same issue exists with the EU, how it's presumably the European Union and not the Eurasian Alliance or whatnot. Still, I personally welcome the idea as we don't get to play with European nations that often in modern combat games. Usually boils down to the US and Russia.

The NATO is about as fit as an anti-terrorism front as Mother Theresa would do as a mobster boss for the Hell's Angels ...
