When Command and Conquer is received better by StarCraft fans than CnC fans

One of the most famous western StarCraft 2 commentators, Husky, started a Let's Play of Red Alert 3 with a friend. Though it stopped after 3 missions, at least for now, it is just fun to watch how they take the game for what it is: a fun and wacky experience.
As they didn't played it before (Husky never did, Ahnaris did once some time ago) they go through it, learning the controls and making fun. It is also interesting as there are some minor side comments about design and with that the in my opinion really good work of the RA3 team.

I always said RA3 is the best EALA C&C.

People seem to have some stupid complaints about the game based on DRM and fanboyism ("OHNOES THEY CHANGES MAH SRS RA INTO A CARTOON!"), while ignoring the quality of the game for the most part.

Someone should convince him to play Supreme Commander.

Starcraft players... common logic (like using magnetic satelites on dolphins) is right at home with them. xD

I disagree. I always thought that C&C3 is the best EALA C&C. RA3 may the best C&C gameplay yet but not for its quality and usage of not-so-well-known stars.

Red Alert 3 is the better game out of EALA. Mistakes and limitations from C&C 3 were addressed in RA3 and provided for a more fluid experience. C&C 3 was indeed up there in quality, it just lacked certain elements that made RA3 enjoyable and certain mistakes made players could forgive more easily. RA3 was the most patched out of all the C&C games coming out of EALA and the balance on PC side of things kept getting tweaked.

Balance is hard to achieve but the RA3 team did pull a Starcraft maneuver and patched it enough until the balance was right.

Personally I find C&C3 and RA3 equally great games. C&C3 had the epic atmosphere that is needed in Tiberium games, and RA3 brought back the feeling of RA with Tesla weapons and Kirovs.

I no longer give a rats butt if people think RA3 was bad just because "it was cartoony or too much anime/manga stuff". Or C&C3 was bad because "it wasn't second TS". Both have pros and cons, more pros in my mind. At least both had resource gathering and base building.

Yeah, but there must be a reason why they didn't post 4th part of the videos...

Limited time? Since the last video the general activity dropped for Husky, and a month later D3 came out, so I don't think it's because it suddenly turned bad. Remember that it also is/was a series just for fun.

Well, it is turning cartoony to the worst of it. Now, that was of course a tendency started with RA2 so a bit consistency is better than nothing, but those that miss the serious-what-if scenario that RA1 represented will obviously have their reasons to not like it (like me).

And that is only speaking about the generaö game design, that story is just bad narm. Not the good narm, bad narm for the sake of narming itself.
