    Balance?

    or

    Diversity?

Of course a game needs both, but for the sake of the exercise, try and rank one higher then the other in your mind.
Dam you want me to split it again!!

Ok, Diversity means better play through the single player for a couple goes and the multi player starts off well... then everyone finds the faction and unit that is totally OP and then it is always a rush for the same thing, game broken. Delete... next game.

Balance means a play though the SP once and I have seen it all, but the MP is great fun and lasts a whole lot longer. That way you always have a fair fight. A loss comes down to something you done (or didn't do), rather than a unit you couldn't make. Then that makes a good challenge and will have me playing again.

I think I would go with Balance.

I would go with diversity - balance is one of the few things that can be changed in patches, but unit designs and gameplay mechanics are pretty much set in stone once the game is released.

I would say so too myself, for me, I liked how it was diverse in RA3 while at the same time keeping all three sides as polished as possible.

    My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '

I guess I was thinking about the game as a finished product without room for patches. I might need a rethink if we are including patches and DLC. Then again diversity like balance can be added in every patch too. Another faction, maps, more units, more generals powers, the list goes on. WoT has been adding things every patch and the game gets a new lease on life every time.

The more I think about it, if the game was totally done with and EA said no more support, no more patches or DLC... Would I rather the game be balanced or diverse it’s a hard question.

By that time I think I would rather balance still. If the game was left with game breaking OP units that made the MP useless then I would not be playing it. If the game was an fair challenge every time I played MP but there was the same old units over and over I would probably still play it. No matter how diverse they make a game, it doesn’t take long to see everything in the game. Unbalanced game play would make me move on to the next thing, lack of diversity still would, but not as fast.

A campaign/story that is memorable and will have more than 12 missions per faction. It feels like the last few games campaigns were to short and wasn't that great as the Westwood games.

I want a scud launcher launcher launcher. A scud launcher that launches scud launchers that launches scud launchers that launches scud missiles.

Edit : Wait, is there supposed to be another launching of scud launchers in there?

I'd like Generals 2 to have a great story, but not just a boring military story. I want characters to be rememorable, every character should have their own personality, background, just be an actual character instead of some random guy that'll be forgettable.

As for the story, I want more in game depth when you actually destroy an entire city. Show a cutscene where some civilians are crying over their losses etc. Give them reasons to be angry and to fight back, like with the Greece guy in Red Alert 1.
