    Yet more RA3 problems

I managed to install RA3 correctly by copying the disc's contents onto the hard drive, due to the fact that my computer's DVD drive doesn't acknowledge the existence of specifically the RA3 installation disc, but the installation doesn't seem to have gone right.

Basically, none of the skirmish maps will show up ingame, despite the fact that it's been patched to v1.012, and it doesn't make any difference whether the maps are official or unofficial.

It might be worth referring to my previous post if you need info on the sort of problem my computer had with RA3 from the start, just in case that helps at all.

This sounds like your DVD drive is about to die. Had a similar system pull this where it would read certain discs and stop reading others. Pretty soon this dvd drive of yours will resort to only reading music cds. Get a new dvd drive as they are quite cheap.

Strictly speaking, this has only been occurring with two game discs, and has been happening from the moment I got the computer I've been trying to run it on. On top of that, the computer that copied the installation files from the disk was a Dell XPS L502X, which never had this problem at all. I copied the installation files using this laptop, and then transferred them to the main computer, and only installed the game after this was done. None of the installation files were omitted. The main computer's drive has not degenerated over the last 18 months at all.

    Hope this helps.

You can try manually installing some unofficial maps, see if you can do that.
