What Generals Powers/Upgrades do we want?

So if they are in game, what do you guys want to see?

Do you want to see the same ones from Generals 1 but with new improved graphics? (A reminder for those with short memories, The A10 Strike, Air Fuel Bomb, The nuke bomber, Paratrooper drop, Tank Drop, Artillery Barrage, EMP Bomb, Marauder Tank, Anthrax Bomb etc)

Or do you want new ones?
I always wanted to see a mid level option as a Nuke that killed everything (like China had Generals 1) but then as the 5th level upgrade you could upgrade to a neutron bomb. It just empties the blast zone of all humans and leaves empty tanks everywhere. It empties tanks that you could then charge infantry into and take over. A game turning tactic when you have been beaten back to nothing but a handful of infantry.

Or a GLA mid level upgrade of ambush. Similar to the Chinese mines. You setup a zone of attack and any enemy army that moves through it has GLA rocket troopers jump out of the ground all around them. It would be invisible unless spotted by a detector.

On the other hand the air fuel bomb and Specter gunship were favorites of mine. I would love to see these in the new game engine with new graphics and effects.

For reinforcement powers, I definetly want paradrop just for being cool, and tank drop like Tank General had in ZH. And of course Rebel Ambush for GLA, but perhaps with more than just basic Rebels, throw in couple of suicide guys and anti-armor guys.

A10 / B1 strike for the US if they return in some DLC, artillery strike for some Asian faction. Spectre gunship was also visually one of my favorites, but the gunship itself was too vulnerable to AA fire, making it quite useless against defended bases or heavily fortified areas.

Anthrax bomb should be back in GLA arsenal as well.

For the EU, I would say they should have one that can spawn a special building of sorts anywhere on the map, like a defensive turret or a special support thing.

That’s a great idea, you mean like a bunker or pill box? I could see the tactics for that one in game already. Push the army in to a fight with a squad of RPG troops behind it. Drop the bunker just behind the front line and fill it up as soon as it lands. BAM battle won! AA and AT support in a bunker Just like a squad Humvees full of RPGs VS a tank army.

I could see this one getting flown into the battle field via a giant heavy lift halo like above. Fits in with the EU faction too having a German/French designed halo. It gives a chance to shoot it down before it lands so it won't be too OP. Like the A10 strike in Generals 1 that could be focused down with enough AA. Everything needs a counter or a weak spot for balance.

Firebases are used this way at least from Vietnam war.
Chinook bring towed artillery piece and infantry, then bags can be filled with earth near drop zone and distributed around artillery for ballistic protection.

Currently USA use UK made M777 towed howitzer with modern fire control which can with guided munition hit target 40km/25miles far away with CEP less than 20m.

Due low weight of 4t thanks to use of light titanium in construction it's possible to lift modern towed howitzers even with medium transport like Black Hawk. In game from near future probably something similar to C&C3 transport craft, fast but fragile...

Something like this will be also useful for missions like recapturing base, firstly destroying AA around captured base with fast response team, then dropping Firebases around conquered base, that will be used for recapturing base and later also for its protection against enemy outside...

    No "I win" buttons.

That's the only thing I want from the support powers.

If we are to have the mega destructive ones again like the MOAB, make sure they are to be only in the late game, and those bombers can be shot down if your are capable enough to find and destroy them.

I totally agree with that guys. No 'I win buttons' and anything that is powerful is late game so we can defend against it. Things like the air fuel bomb and MOAB were cool in the first one. They handed out big pain but by the time you could use them everyone had a base and defenses that could handle it... (well most did )

Anything that is OP has a big weakness so it can be countered if you are good enough to do it. I like having things that are brought in by air. The defending player has the chance to shoot it down if they prepare for it. The long charge times of the super weapons and them lighting up on the map as soon as they start counting was good. It gave everyone the opportunity to get them before they were used.

    No stupid powers like:
-Leaflet drop (enemy troopers stunned by quality of your propaganda so much that they can be killed without resistance)
-GPS scrambler (Empty Battle bus + GPS scrambler combo killing infantry formations because there isn't any detector unit near by to prevent infantry massacres by stealthed unarmed vehicles or at least make stealth visible on close distance like in C&C3)
-Instant repair (better make some drones like for Scrin power in C&C3 or similar but keep magic like instant healing for fantasy RPGs)
