Company of Heroes 2 - Reminds me of Tiberian Sun

Company of Heroes 2 reminds me of Tiberian Sun.

Some new info on COH 2:

    - If the ice on the lake is destroyed, it'll will freeze back over after a few minutes -- faster during blizzards.

    - Blizzards will also affect off-map abilities.

    - Infantry have "thermometer gauge", the longer you move your troops through deep snow during a blizzard, or neglect to provide shelter for them in buildings or troop transports, the shorter their battlefield life expectancy becomes. When the thermometer gauge above the squad drops, they'll be turned into a bunch of human icicles.

    - Campfires, Combat Engineer is the only unit that can deploy these pits of fire on the battlefield. As long as your troops can huddle around these blessed flames, their thermometer gauge will remain in the safe zone. When one isn't available, putting troops into cover will shield them from the wind and allow them to wait out the storm

I would have thought at the very beginning, Starcraft II looked kinda like Tiberian Sun with nothing significantly new in content, but this COH2 game, I wouldn't have thought of that.

How is any of that like TS... Seems more like TS doesn't even compare.

Probably because of the ice breakage feature.

I for one would like to see a realistic weather system in Generals 2 because it would definitely make gameplay more interesting and make you rethink your strategies. Snow should make your units slower than normal because of the snow slowing them down. Thunderstorms would ground aircraft and make them unusable for that mission/game. Maybe swamp/marshland would slow down vehicles because the wheels could get jammed or stuck in the mud/debris.

The ice refreezing reminded me of TS, not the game's visuals.

I'm not really a fan of all these weather, temperature, ice, blizzard, snow features they are adding. If anything it sounds more like an annoyance than a fun gameplay feature you can exploit to your advantage. I sure hope there are some summer/spring maps and not only winter maps.

There will be summer maps. About third of the campaign is based in cold weather conditions, rest takes place in spring, summer and fall.

That's it? When I read that list of mechanics, I could only wonder how TS compared to any of it.

After a double take, the blizzard effects are like the ion storms too.
