Its a rather big disappoint for us really.
Its a rather big disappoint for us really.
My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '
I've stated this in another forum environment so I will state it here cause it somewhat relates.
When World of Warcraft launched we had a lot of gamers who had the patience to let Blizzard get things fixed up and servers working correctly. When SWTOR launched we had a lot of new gamers this time around who possess the sheer amount of impatience that requires developers to think on their toes and can't put out content fast enough to satisfy the masses while the gamers with extreme amount of patience can wait while things get fixed. Things are way different from late 2004 to present as we got a whole new generation of gamers that quite frankly lack patience and are not hardcore like some of us are still today and the troubling thing about it is these casual people simply surpassed the hardcore base.
Hardcore players wait with extreme patience for their niche games to come back and get announced, while the casual players continue to dictate how certain games succeed or fail when it use to be the voice of the hardcore players and that has since changed. Casuals severely outnumber the hardcore players today and developers cannot adapt fast enough as it is which a lot of games the past 5 years fail or force a developer to close it's doors.
Casual player mentality wants stuff now rather than later or they will simply move on to something else without fear of you (the developer) falling on your sword. In this case of announcements and no real trace of the announced game afterwards they choose to wait it out until something surfaces with more beef to it and if they don't like what they see then again same motto applies above.
When all is said and done here, It's a damned if you do and Damned if you don't mentality in gaming today.
It's not about getting the game now but about hearing something... Just a single screenshot would go a long way...

personally, im happy to wait, i have a lot of patience. but that doesnt stop me from getting excited or hopeful to hear or see something new if there is potential for it to be shown somewhere.

I just think it's odd there has not bit one tiny crumb of information (even if to say "hey guys we love you, appreciate you coming to the forums but we just don't have anything tangible to show you guys at this point") since Dec 2011
I mean i was checking the boards daily for a while after the reveal - now I rarely check, getting bored here multiple me by whoever else already got bored and left - gotta be cognizant of your community
There is no need to reveal everything, but many here would like some proof that Bioware is still working on it.
They don't need to show us any media, but at least it would be nice if they would tell us what they are currently doing. They could use twitter and tell us once or twice a week what is going on in the studio like "Hey people, we are making great progress this week. We had to redesign some units of the EU, but now they fit even better in the game."
Everybody knows that if Bioware is still working on this project, they already reached a state where all basic informations and mechanics can't be changed anymore without wasting tons of money. So they could at least give us informations about stuff, that won't change anymore.
I agree
it's not that BioVictory owe "us" anything. It's nothing like that - it is more than a fanbase got excited in Dec and really haven't heard anything since. it would be a nice show on the developers part to have a quarterly update or something even if it's just to say "there isn't much to show right now but things are going great"
C&C Gen2 on twitter giving some week-to-week or even month-to-month information would be an idea.
They have been adding "milestones" of each C&C on their facebook, perhaps they'll do this until they reach Gens 2 and reveal a date?
