Assistance getting a modder set up.

    Hey guys,

I used to be fairly active making maps back when this game first came out and after a few years haitus i decided to come back to Red Alert 3.

I work in the games industry and I am confident that with time, I can get to grips with making a mod, however I have fallen over at the common first hurdle: setting up the SDK.

Working with the Xbox SDK is rather easy, one install and its all there, but after attempting that here (and with bibblers tools) i wasnt getting very far.

Would it be possible for someone to give a quick step by step process of things I need installed to get the SDK working? (if a specifc version of a framework or program is needed (as opposed to the most recent) can you also specify!

    Cheers!

    Tom

    1) Download latest RA3 SDK - Click
    2) Install it somewhere, it's easy setup.
    3) Download Bibber's SDK Addon - Click
    4) Copy all files from there to RA3 SDK folder.

Now you're ready to go. Just compile Samle Mod via RA3ModSDK Build Studio ( deselect merge and fix assets it may cause some errors ). To launch mod you need to launch Red Alert UI, just add to your shortcut "-ui" without "". Then go to Game Browser->Mods and select SampleMod. This will open your mod. If you had no errors during compile - all will work fine and you will see some changes made in game ( SampleMod contains HarbingerGunship as unit example ).

Also i would recommend to read this thread, even i get some useful info from there - Click

Edit: aye I took a look at the SDK thread, lots of good stuff there- a lot of dead links too

Well, i would recommend you to install latest .net framework, that's all. World Builder is needed only for maps. You can also install RA3 World Builder SDK ( Optional ).

You don't need any studio or else, just use any .xml editing program to modify source code.
