DirectX compatability issues

I purchased Command and Conquer: the First Decade mainly for Generals. Whenever I try to run it, it says that I must have DirectX version 8.1 or higher. I have DirectX 11. Can anyone help?

EDIT: I only seem to have this problem with Zero Hour. Generic C&C Generals seems to work fine.

The solution to this is listed in the Common Problems thread. It simply means your screen can't handle the set default game resolution.

I called them and got everything sorted out. I needed to update my display drivers. If anyone else has this problem, please note that you would have to uninstall and reinstall it after updating your drivers. At least, that's what I had to do.

Oh. Well, yeah, outdated display drivers are kinda unrelated to actual game problems. That's just basic stuff :P
