We know this, because EA doesn't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to game balancing post launch.
And I still have doubt they will actually do it the right way, being skeptical cause it happened b4 many times in the past.

    My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '

I've seen AGM's list of people they can market this thing to - I'm wondering when he'll realize what it means that people like him aren't on it either.
    I don't follow...

All I need in an RTS game is a ladder, 1v1 fixed teams, base building, resource gathering, and real-time combat. Good implementation of course is important, but that's separate from the design. So far, that is what EA seems to be delivering.

Well, you know how detrimental it is for competitive leagues if they are just based on the leftovers of other game modes. Like back when competitive MP was only the leftover of casual fun gaming. Balance adjustment for 1v1? Nah, 4v4 sells more. New feature that slightly undermines PVP balance? But the PVE people love it!

Ladder, yeah, I guess you're on the safe side there. Not much they can mess up. Then again, EA, but let"s be optimistic for once.
1vs1... not so useful for F2P. Practically all F2P are primarily team-oriented, it's better for marketing visual goodies; there needs to be someone you can show them to.
Base building... TW had base building. TT did too. Casual gamers loved it.
Resource gathering... I'm pretty sure I've seen a static, EU themed oil derrick in the trailer. Y'know, all this simplifying of management tasks to put a greater focus on combat really helps opening the game for new players.
Good implementation... did you see the trailer? They bragged with that one. Just savor that thought for a moment. And I'm still laughing about that "command massive armies" bit of the announcement.

Let's be realistic, every C&C so far (minus Sole Survivor) had the things you've named. It was never sufficient.
Really, there are so many ways to do the things you've listed...

But don't mistake my personal attitude of "they've messed this up so many times already, I better take my chances with actually good games and developers" with "it's the worst abomination of game-kind ever, your dreams will be crushed and your children will hate you for forsaking their future. EA is the anti-christ!". No, that's not the case. I'm just very interested to see how they pull it off. Watching that process is probably going to be both entertaining and educational.
Oh, I wish you luck. You are going to need it.

The problem is the BF f2p games which are now p2w started out with the "you will never be able to buy advantages" idea, but later on they added it anyway because it gave them more money. I hope it won't happen with C&C. Don't promise something that you might have to break.

i 100% agree with the OP. f2p means spending thousands of dollars just to use all you can use in other games that cost 15-60$. ;(

"honestly people are just jumping to baseless conclusions here"

Hmmm, lets see, my conclusion was that if was not playable offline, I would not play it/buy it/have anything to do with it. They have stated the game will be an ONLINE game that has no single player AND is F2P.

Yeah, no jumping required. BASED on the stated lack of offline and single player I have chosen not to touch it. All I can hope to do is get it through the thick skulls of EA that they have made a mistake, but I have a feeling the only way to do that would require actions that I can not take part in, due their illegality.

Someone would literally have to beat it into a few of their skulls before they might "get it", but even then they probably would not. (I'm not condoning that, I'm jsut stating a fact..) Some people are just too ignorant and stupid to ever learn. EA must have a large share of those people working for them. (and a few of them trolling the boards too....)

I'm hoping this game takes a turn for the better, (IMO,) like Age of Empires Online.

Also, as long as the game AT LEAST has some Co-Op/Campaign/Solo, then I'll 'download', if it's purely multiplayer based, then that's another franchise ruined...
