Angry "Refund not possible" according to Origin/EA

So, I got on Origin's live chat help to speak with one of their people regarding my refund considering I pre-ordered C&CG2, but the project is no longer going ahead..

This is the response I got..

The chat session ended as soon as I got the "Refund not possible" reply.

I've put a request through PayPal, so hopefully something will come of that...

It will since they're in breach of contract by failing to deliver on their end of the agreement. Not sure if paypal can do anything about it but a lawyer in a small claims court would. If you're European you have even greater protection as you have the right to back out of a purchase at any time before the goods are delivered or are made available.

And if nothing else, I'm sure kotaku or reddit would have a field day over people being conned out of their money by EA :P

Either you had an exceptionally incompetent operator, forwarded the wrong order ID or whatever that number actually represented, or the reason why I leave this forsaken place was strenghtened again by an order of magnitude.

EA teams have the game developed in a great mess. They don't even know what they are going to make...

The on-line chat support, and general ea support is atrocious. I went through the same thing when I ordered a physical copy of SWTOR a while back. After playing the trial for a bit, I decided the game wasn't for me and I wanted to cancel it before it shipped. Having ordered it on saturday, and monday being a stat holiday, there was ample time to cancel before shipping. I used the online chat to ask to cancel it saturday night. The representative simply said that the order could not be cancelled, giving me no reason and ended the chat like the OP.

So the next day I phoned up EA and asked to cancel my order. They said sure, and did it right away, and confirmed that it was cancelled. Checking on the website a couple of hours later, my order was still online. I called again and to confirm that it was cancelled and the agent reassured me that it was.

Believe it or not, the next day I receive a shipping confirmation email, with the game arriving the following day. Even on the website it says a minimum of 3 business days to ship, the game arrived in under 1...

And it gets even better. The only way to return the game was to ship it back to their return centre. How much was shipping? $20.

So now my options were to spend $20 to RETURN a game that was confirmed to be cancelled or keep the game, which I never wanted in the first place. AND on top of that its going F2P as well. I've never seen worse in customer support, basically screwed me over and I cant do anything about it. In the end I gave the game to my little brother, at least someone played it...

Just a tip, stay away from EA.
