Everyone has to admit it'd be pretty cool, maybe a good idea for a mod.

My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '
no i didnt see it, when was this one out, with the new anouncement? theres so much talk on the forum i havnt read everything so i was bound to miss something i spose.
plans change tho, such as the f2p switch etc. they could change there minds. as for the they should be kept seperate issue. im talking about a multiplayer/skirmish only part. not making a story out of it. all it would be is units fighting. the only issue i see is balance.
when its done as a mod there are no complaints, i dont really see why its a problem if its done by the original developer tbh.

Welcome to the difference between amateur and professional. Things that are praised as an amateur project don't always translate well into a professional product. People are also generally more lenient on mods because they're mods.
Though, the mod didn't actually do like Nod vs GLA matchups. They combined the series into Tiberian, Red Alert, and Generals and hand-selected units for each. This creates a separate matchup of 3 factions, but each of those factions have a diverse mix. This creates a unique atmosphere to create custom rules so mashups can be balanced within each other.
The problem you're going to run into is that in order to keep the balance for every faction spanning years time you have to stifle innovation, or they just won't work with each other due to the games presenting separate rules (like the worker vs MCV) and may lead to a severe imbalance. Case and point: let's say in a future Red Alert game, they want to continue the vain of the navy and having each unit with mulitple abilities. That's not going to work out with a Generals-type faction where you have only a few multiple ability units and no navy.

Will the Red Alert and Tiberium entries in the series share that same account?
“We’re obviously open to the concept,” said Van Caneghem. “I know another person asked me the other day if they’d be able to fight games between factions. I guess that’s something we can look at at some point.”
so they are open to the possibility...
