From what i have researched it isnt much of a big deal, but it may be down to running the 64-bit os on 4 gigs of ram.

It recommends anything more than 4 gigs use 64-bit.

Red, You are an complete idiot. 64 bit OS allows the user to use more than 4Gb of RAM. 32 Bit only supports 3.5Gb of RAM.

but from the research i did muppet it says anything more than 4gb's, so there must be a grey area inbetween.

actually this appears to be an issue with DirectX itself Red.

I would recommend he tries reinstalling DirectX in a clean boot.

Here is the instructions on how to clean boot:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us(I can't really summarize any better than they have here. this is a great summary)
and here is the link to redownload and install DirectX
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...a-9b6652cd92a3

and Red- there is absolutely no problems with running a 64 bit OS on 3 or 4GB of RAM. it just means that you should have page files enabled for when you do the more intensive tasks. On my pc I have 4GB of RAM and on my laptop, I have 3GB. Both are 64 bit versions. pc is ultimate rev 7100, and my laptop is Home Premium rev 7600
