    Ideas for a new Generals

Command and Conquer: Generals was a terrific hit. It was and is still extremely fun to play.It had fun music, a lofty and fun yet serious-ish atmosphere, and sold well.
These are good reasons for the new C&C Community should make a second one. Here are a few suggestions:
    1:Factions
Now, I like the factions from the old game, and most others do to. China,USA,and GLA. You should keep those. However, since critics probably complain about the similarity in the C&C games, you should add new factions. Not one. Two.
It might sound crazy, and a little too much, but think about it for a second: What would the benefits be?
First of all, there are a lot more countries in this world that the USA and China. It would make the game feel more real if you added more factions I suggest adding Russia to the mix, and as another, maybe the European Union, or a different terrorist group that would help the GLA.

Secondly, in the first game, each campaign had only 7 levels. Adding new factions and giving them campaigns would provide for an even more diverse storyline. The Russians could be at war with the EU,or be in a temporary alliance to help fight off the terrorist threat.

Adding new factions would be complicated, but I think it would make the game even better. If two is too much, then you should do one.

    2:Campaign
Now, while the campaign in the Original Generals was pretty fun, it was short. C&C Tiberium Wars had 13 or 14 levels for GDI and Nod, and about 4 for the Scrin. All of that adds to a lot more action-packed levels than Generals. So,I suggest that there be a much longer campaign, with more levels, maybe four or so more for each faction.

    3:Subfactions
In the Generals:Zero Hour expansion pack, you can play as separate Generals with special abbileties, and can go on special missions to destroy all of the other General's bases. You should definately keep this, maybe for an expanion pack,as has been suggested. However, this is the one thing that you cannot leave out if you add subfactions:
    Creating your own Subfaction.
This would atract people. You would be able to choose from the game which types of units your General gets to use, name him,add a symbol, even post a picture of something as the General's picture. You could record your voice say "General _____" for the VS. matches, like in the Original:"General Towns VS General Kwai".
And even better, you could add your own units and buildings, if you knew how to model and script. You could have a download station like in Civilization 5 where you can download different Generals and model types.

    4:Graphics & Gameplay
I loved the graphical qualety of C&C Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3, but then the cartoony style of Red Alert got mixed in with the supposed-to-be-serious gameplay of C&C Tiberian Twilight.
Keep the cartoony,anime-like style of Red Alert in the Red Alert Universe. I liked the gameplay in Generals. Something about it is just really nice. Whatever magic was worked with the Generals gameplay, keep it and mix it with the graphical awesomeness that is involved in today's gaming world. Add tiny little details to things. Make the models as though you were making them for a game like Call of Duty, where everythig looks realistic up close. This would help with the graphical detail in the new game. Also, you should add sea units. In the Generals:Zero Hour, you could use them in certain missions, but you couldn't build them. Maybe if you could have capturable seaports. It was convenient how your average infantry man could capture a building. That should be kept too.

I understand that something like this would be extremely hard work, but I think it would pay off.

Create a subfaction? While I like thse idea of it, it sounds like all kinds of hell for balancing.

Agreed, and agreed. Though they could always do the E:BFD thing, and have a list of subfaction that you pick and choose from, and set before the match.

Agreed, except in my opinion, 5 factions are too much.

Hmmm...That does seem like a good idea. But what do you mean by balancing? I'm not very experienced with the techincal stuff.

I support most of your points Leviathen, however, I have my doubts about adding a fourth faction, since it may end happening what we saw at WC3, were faction diversity was mostly cosmetic and cast-themed.

Factions could also follow the countries idea in RA2 with some unique units, but also the RA1 style where your units have a base value modified. Like 10% increase in armor. -5% in speed. That sort of thing. Then use different models for tanks and vehicles to signify the change.

I will respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

Well, while people are talking about factions, why not just put even more emphasis on the generals points, and instead of a traditional tech tree, create a sort of faction-tree, where as you get more points, you use your generals points to unlock sets of units and structures, that fit your play style and current situation.
