    A Better Video Card ?

I have a HP P6102F pc that came with an Ati Radeon 4650 card.

My PC has a 300w power supply and I have it connected to a 22" NEC MultiSync FE2111sb CRT monitor.

I want to get an Nvidia video card that will outperform my current card, have a VGA,DVI & HDMI connection and able to work with my power supply.

    Thanks.

Are there any games you have in mind? And why specifically Nvidia?

I will respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

on top of that- you will need a larger power supply. 300W with your setup doesn't leave much room for improvement.

Use Torrents? I know what you have downloaded. click my sig for proof

Can't go further than hd4650 with that PSU(I actually researched this a while back for a friend and that is indeed the furthest you can go with being safe). If you want to upgrade you need to get a new PSU or the current one will fry.

How do these compare since they can work with my power supply ?

I was actually thinking of getting a 430 or 440 for my music PC which is using a GT 220.

The games that I'm playing is Supreme Commander series.
    NFSU
    NFSU2
    NFS CARBON
    NFSMW
    NFS SHIFT
    NFS PRO STREET
    GRID
    HOMEWORLD 2
    SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE
    SPORE-GALACTIC ADVENTURES
    C&C SERIES

And I am waiting to buy Split Second and the new NFS HOT PURSUIT.

I don't play any shooters and the reason for wanting Nvidia is because I have run into a few games that don't run or look good under my Ati card like the last Star Ship Troopers & NFS UNDERCOVER looks like NFS 2 or 3 with my card.

Even thoug its a much newer game than NFS CARBON & NFSMW,those 2 games look brillant with my card but I was told that Undercover only looks good with an Nvidia card.

I don't think you will actually be upgrading with those, but google "(cardname) review" and see for yourself. Do some comparisons between the two cards.

Have you tried playing with the games?

And also, those cards you mention aren't good enough. You might wanna consider a new PC, but I will rather you get a 6850.

from the first post, the OP clearly needs a new power supply before getting a more powerful card.

remember that it is only in very unique cases that a PSU will be able to run at its peak wattage without blowing out.

the OP has listed their PSU as a generic 300W PSU, which will not have enough rails on it to power the mid range cards in the first place, and secondly- with the rest of the pc being powered form the same source, there is a high chance that there wont be enough power sent out across the whole pc.

either buy a new PSU and GPU or buy a whole new pc

I don't know apt, HP's PSU are efficient. But they only can take so much, that's true. And 4650 seems the best it can do.

I suggest a new machine built around an Intel i5 2500k and a Nvidia GTX 570 or AMD Radeon 6970. Most cost effective.
Corsair and Silverstone make the best power supplies.
